WATCH: Thomas responds to Barnsley defeat

ROBINS’ striker Wes Thomas acknowledged that his team did not take their all of their chances, as he spoke to the media following Town’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Barnsley.

Thomas, fresh off last weekend’s score sheet against Crewe Alexandra, endured a tough outing at Oakwell, as the Robins found it difficult to turn their possession into goals.

“They (Barnsley) took their chances and we didn’t. Four chances and four goals, they were their only chances but they took them,” said Thomas.

Speaking of the solitary goal scored for Swindon Town this afternoon, given as an own-goal by Lewin Nyatanga, Thomas said, “I felt like I got a touch on it but we’ll have to see.”

“I’m looking to have a good run of games and score goals now,” Thomas continued, looking ahead to the games to come.

Turning his attention to a late chance which fell to him in today’s game, Thomas admitted: “I should have done better, but if I get more chances I know I’m going to score goals.

“I’m enjoying the style of football we’re playing here,  I feel like I’m going to get a lot of opportunities here.”

“Once we get in those certain (attacking) areas I come alive, I know those runs to make.”

Turning over the page from the Barnsley defeat, Thomas remained positive: “we all believe that we should be challenging but we just have to put the work in.

“It’s just one game, come Saturday if we get a win everything changes.

We’ve just got to put this in the back of our minds and go again.”
