SWINDON Speedway have handed Aussie ace Justin Sedgmen a return to the club for the 2016 campaign.
The 23-year-old returns ahead of the new campaign, and is a much more well rounded rider from when he first featured for the club, according to team boss Alun Rossiter.
Sedgmen, was given his Elite League bow by the club in 2010 before being given a full-time team spot in 2011.
However, he largely struggled to make an impact in the top flight as a raw youngster as the Robins endured two seasons to forget.
He has since earned two successive Premier League titles with Edinburgh and continued to fulfil his potential over the course of an impressive few years on an individual level.
His encouraging performances have seen him rewarded with a Swindon return, joining reserve Charles Wright as the second member of their 2016 side.
Rossiter believes that Sedgmen has what it takes to make a big impression in the Elite League at the second time of asking.
Rossiter said: “Justin has really come on over the last couple of years, and he’s certainly a much-improved rider from when he first rode for the club.
“I think he found it tough to adapt when he first came over here, which isn’t surprising for a youngster, but now he’s got himself well established in the Premier League with two league titles for Edinburgh and an average of around eight.
“I’m confident he’s ready to race in the Elite League now and although we won’t be setting him any targets it’s obvious that he has the potential to add to his average.
“He’s very professional and he wanted to come back to us and we’re more than happy to have him back.
”As far as the rest of the team goes, we’re taking our time and assessing things carefully. There are members of last season’s team and our own assets who we haven’t ruled out, and it’s important that we make the right moves,” Rossiter added.
