SWINDON Robins have announced their first signing of the winter as Charles Wright returns to the club.
The 27-year-old played a part in guiding the Robins to the Elite League Play-Offs in 2015 and he will fill one of the reserve berths once again next year.
Swindon team manager Alun Rossiter said: “Charles is a rider with a lot of potential and someone who has undoubted ability on a speedway bike.
“He came on really nicely in 2015 and we’re confident he can build on what was a pretty successful season for the lad.
“He’s got a great attitude, he gets on well with everybody and we’ll be charting his progress throughout the season.”
The Robins’ second reserve will be announced in due course, with Rossiter and his management team studying rider averages and availability to ensure they get the most suited rider for the role.
Speaking to Total Sport at the end of the 2014/15 season, Wright admitted he was pleased to his end to the campaign, which culminated in a respectable personal showing against Belle Vue Aces in the play-offs.
“In the first leg “I scored in every race I was in, gaining the heat advantage. So it was quite a steady one from me and I was happy to score points,” Wright told Total Sport.
The Stockport born rider will be hoping for much of the same in the coming campaign, and will aim to grab the attention of boss Alun Rossiter with hearty performances when called upon.
Meanwhile, promoter Colin Pratt has made a welcome return to the BSPA Management Committee following Tuesday’s final AGM.
