Town appoint Embleton as first team coach

SWINDON Town have today announced the appointment of Ross Embleton, who will join the Robins’ backroom staff as first team coach.

Embleton stands as the third recent change to the Swindon backroom  set up, following the announcement of Martin Ling as full time manager and Sam Jewell as new chief scout.

Embleton is already familiar with his fellows at Swindon Town, having started his coaching career under Martin Ling at Leyton Orient, working alongside Luke Williams at Brisbane Road. He has since worked for AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur before taking up his role at the County Ground.

Luke Williams will now fill the position of assistant manager within the club hierarchy, as the three are expected to work together closely for the remainder of the League One season.

Speaking to the Swindon Town website, Embleton said: “It’s fantastic to come into an opportunity like this as first team coach with two people that are quite well known to me,” he said. “I’ve worked with them both (Martin and Luke) for a number of years in different times across my career.”

“One thing for any partnership or team of coaches when you work together, you want to make sure you’re all working towards the same thing, for the same outcome and in the same way. Although you share different opinions, it’s nice to know that people with similar views are going to be able to work together,” Embleton added.
